These boots got their first workout of the season on the Lime Kiln Trail in the Cascades. They went through 7mi of mud, shallow stream crossings, and slippery log bridge crossings without a hiccup. Extremely lightweight, and very comfortable. How they feel with a large pack is TBD, but they worked great at this distance carrying about a 20lb day pack.

Without any break in period, these are the most comfortable boots I have ever purchased. My current pair is about 2 years old, and since I wear them over 200 days per year, I think that's more than durable. I have a hard to fit foot, so am purchasing a back up pair today. I use them for hiking (mountain & the Kettle Moraine near my home,) walking the hound (she hunts I walk,) shopping, and yes, they go to the horse barn with me. (I don't ride in them... but wish I could!)

Okay, so I have fat feet that are so wide they look like a duck's web feet (just visualize that for a moment)...real wide across the toes. I also have a high instep and have to wear double EE. So you know how, as the day goes on and you're hiking along up and down...and your toes seem to keep getting more and more scrunched and they're swelling and sweating inside your boots so much that finally, you stop, take your knife and cut the entire front off your boot....? Well, you will never have that problem with your boot. Mines are light, comfortable, wide in the toe box and have great traction and fit. Now, let's see how long they last... my final report at a later date...

Denis from Seattle

I bought these online and used them 1 day at the gym before wearing them onto the plane to Colorado to climb two 14'ers. That raised some eyebrows, especially on my friends who know my heels blister very easily. But I never got even a hot spot, never had to stop and tape my feet, and had no blisters at all, the entire trip. The boots were totally comfortable from the moment I put them on. I have the low-top version of this shoe, same immediate comfort. They reminded me of my old Vasque Sundowners that way, one of the early soft-leather boots, which I was sad to retire. This is a supple boot with a reasonably sturdy sole. Great for day hiking and scrambling, probably borderline for backpacking (I haven't tried that yet, but plan to). The top hooks hang onto the laces, but the knot will slide up over the tongue, and loosen the boot in the process. Solution: Lace over the hook and down through it (reverse direction), then tie. It's easier than using the little loop on the tongue. Cool trails to you!
